The Benfica Under 9 Girls Division team from the Manteca Futbol Club was honored by the Manteca City Council Tuesday for placing second in the NorCal State Soccer Cup.

As the young ladies were lining up, City Clerk Joann Tilton quipped, “finally a group I’m taller than.”

The city also recognized the team’s coach Manuel Pires for 25 years of being a dedicated coach for both Sierra High and Manteca Futbol Club teams.
