Former Manteca police officer writes book

Former Manteca Police officer David Bordenkircher has penned a book about growing up in Manteca as well as the dynamics that shaped the lives of two young boys — himself and his brother Dale Bordenkircher.

Bordenkircher was greatly influenced as a youth by the writings of John Steinbeck, the employer-employee dynamics with an onion packing shed at Turner Station (north of Manteca near Delicato Vineyards) and certain events as a Manteca peace officer. It helped steer his life work toward the skid row streets of New Orleans.

He is now retired and married to the former Sharon Winter, his wife of 52 years. They currently reside in Gardnerville, Nev.

The book is available through major Internet book companies.
