Houses being torn down on East Yosemite
Placeholder Image

Two houses that have been boarded up across East Yosemite Avenue from the International of Pancakes will used in the coming week by the Manteca Fire Department for training purposes.

When they are through with them, Raymus Development will raze the houses. They will not be burned.

Ben Cantu, who counts Manteca history among his hobbies, noted that one of the homes originally was a house in the Spreckels Sugar company housing area where the Curran Grove neighborhood now stands today.

The late Antone Raymus had at one time hoped to put together parcels including where the two homes are to build professional offices along East Yosemite Avenue.
