Ice cream trucks precede Santas sleigh

It was 62 degrees at mid-afternoon Monday in Manteca and music filled the air in some neighborhoods. No, not Christmas music. It was music from the speakers of an ice cream truck.

While that may be a tad chilly by Los Angeles standards at Christmas— it was 79 degrees Monday in La-La Land — it was downright balmy for much of the nation. It reached 30 degrees in Bismarck, ND, on Monday.

The ice cream truck was playing “Pop Goes the Weasel.” It’s a tad ironic since some folks recall at least one ice cream vendor in July who was playing “Silent Night” as he drove through neighborhoods.
