Manteca Futbol Club scores with neighbors

The Manteca Futbol Club took it upon themselves to pay the City of Manteca to have an off-duty Manteca Police officer work the streets in and around Woodward Park during their soccer tournament this past weekend.
The officer issued 33 parking citations for violations ranging from blocking driveways and parking in front  of hydrants to being too close to corners.
And to make sure that residents that were forced to block their own driveway due to lack of street parking weren’t ticketed, the officer knocked on the door of homes where driveways were blocked.
The soccer club has gone out of their way to be sensitive to concerns raised by Woodward Park residents that have had issues as varied as people having picnic spreads on their front lawns, parking in or blocking their driveways and tossing litter about.
The club does a litter sweep of the park and nearby streets as well.

Volunteers still
needed to help
place crosses
It’s still not too late to volunteer to help place 7,000 crosses at Woodward Park on Friday to help honors those who have died serving America during the Global War on Terror.
Art Smith could still use a few more volunteers on Friday, May 27, starting at 8 a.m. to help place the crosses to prepare for this year’s Memorial Weekend Commemoration.
“Let’s show the Gold Star families that their loved ones will not be forgotten,” Smith said.
It is expected to take until about 2 p.m. to get all of the crosses in place. Smith said any time that you can donate will be greatly appreciated. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
You can contact Smith at apsmithjr@yahoo.com or by calling 209.482.5571.
