The Manteca City Council on Tuesday thanked Ruthanne Bassett for her 15 years of service before retiring as a librarian assistant at the Manteca Branch Library.

Bassett was the beloved lady in charge of the children’s section and story time programs.

Councilman Vince Hernandez noted she’s been called “Mrs. Story Time”, Grandma”, and “Mrs. Story “Lady” among other enduring names.

Bassett used the opportunity to plug her passion for books by promoting this Saturday’s second annual Great Valley Bookfest taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley. She noted besides authors and books there will be cooking demonstrations, workshops, gourmet food trucks, arts and crafts and more.
