Theyre not your fathers teaching assistants

There was a time when student teaching assistants — known by the shorthand ‘TA’ — just graded papers and did odd tasks supporting a classroom teacher.
It was considered an easy way to get credit.
Manteca Unified has changed the game.
High schools now have student technical assistants that help support the teacher as well as the campus Digital Support Technicians to keep student digital devices issued by the district up and running.
It carries a lot more weight on transcripts for college than just being a TA.
Plus it also helps teach the student technical skills troubleshooting devices and making fixes.

How much does
it cost to search
for a battalion chief
for fire department?
In what is apparently a first for Manteca, the City Council is being asked to spend $13,000 from Public Safety Tax receipts to recruit a fire battalion chief.
Manteca has in the past spent money on recruiters to seek and help screen applicants for department head positions such as police chief, fire chief, community development director, public works director, finance director, city clerk, city manager and human resources director.
The council when they meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Civic Center council chambers, 1001 W. Yosemite Ave., is being asked to retain the services of Donnoe & Associates for $13,000. The firm specializes in the recruitment of upper level fire positions.  They will conduct a nationwide search for candidates for the Fire Battalion Chief position, screen all potential candidates, administer a written exam, and conduct an assessment panel, which will include interviews and pertinent exercises.
