Georgianna Reichelt — a longtime community activist with close to 30 years under her belt of letting elected leaders know what she thinks — was back at the Manteca City Council meeting Tuesday after a long hiatus.

“Do you remember me?” she asked after being recognized by Mayor Willie Weatherford to approach the podium.

She took the occasion to compliment Manteca Police for addressing the problem of trucks parking in the roadway near her home.

Then she looked toward Councilman John Harris.

“My you lost weight,” Reichelt told Harris. “My god, you’re skinny.”

Judging from the smile on Harris’ face, Reichelt’s comments made his day.
