Calla High starts flurry of graduations

Graduation season officially kicks off this Friday.

The “Pomp and Circumstance” – the traditional tune played at commencement exercises – begins at 6:15 p.m. for Calla High students receiving their diplomas. The special event will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, 486 Button Ave.

Graduation candidates at Weston Ranch’s New Vision Educational Center (the ceremony there will be held in the on-campus multi-purpose facility) and Lindbergh Educational Center (Calvary Community Church, 815 W. Lathrop Road) will celebrate their big day beginning at 7 o’clock.


A busy schedule is planned for the following week as eighth-grade promotion events throughout the area swing into high gear followed by the various high school graduations.

Included are the following:
Monday, June 1 – Manteca Unified, Joshua Cowell, French Camp, Golden West, Neil Hafley, Lathrop, Sequoia, Shasta, and Veritas.
Tuesday, June 2 – Manteca Unified, Stella Brockman, Brock Elliott, Lincoln, George McParland, Mossdale, New Haven, Nile Garden, Joseph Widmer, Walter Woodward; Ripon Unified, Ripon Elementary (at Park View School), Ripona, Weston, and Colony Oak.

Wednesday, June 3 – Ripon Unified, Ripon High (7 p.m., Stouffer Field).

Thursday, June 4 – Manteca Unified, Weston Ranch High (7 p.m., WRHS stadium), Manteca High (7 p.m., Guss Schmiedt Field); Ripon Christian, RC eighth-grade promotions, 6 p.m., gymnasium.

Friday, June 5 – Manteca Unified, East Union (7 p.m., Dino Cunial Field), Sierra High (7 p.m., Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium); Ripon Christian, RC high school graduation, 7 p.m., gymnasium.

In addition, Manteca Unified will later bid farewell to year-round education, with eighth-grade promotion exercises taking place at Great Valley (June 24), George Komure (June 24) and August Knodt (June 25).
