LATHROP – Residents at the Camino Real Mobile Home Estates in Lathrop could have another National Night Out in December.

That’s in terms of the type of festivities on tap and the number of expected revelers other than those who live in this quiet mobile home enclave on South Harlan Road just north of Louise Avenue who plan to show up at the mobile home estate’s annual Christmas party.

“It’s kind of turning out like the National Night Out event,” said Tammy, the mobile home manager.

They don’t have an exact count on Monday as to the number of guests that is expected to be there, but she said they have sent out invitations to city officials such as the city manager, and staff members of the Lathrop Police Services and Lathrop-Manteca Fire District.

Additionally, dozens of businesses in the community have been invited to take part in the Christmas festivities set for Saturday, Dec. 4, starting at 5 p.m. in the clubhouse. Of those invited, Storage pro is the only ones so far who have given $25 gift certificates to the extravaganza are the Manteca Bass Pro Shops and Store Pro in Lathrop. Each gave two gift certificates which will be raffled off the night of the party, the mobile home manager said.

Guests attending the event will be given a complimentary raffle ticket for the drawing for the prizes, she said.

They are still trying to find a Santa, though, to distribute gifts to the children.

“We have a couple of people in mind but they are either way too short or something else” for the role, Tammy said. They will rent a costume for the volunteer Santa to wear to the event, she said.

The organizers are hoping more businesses will step forward to donate a gift. This will give them an opportunity not only to distribute cards from their businesses but “to promote their business as well,” Tammy said.

Other educational and informational programs that are given at the mobile home at various times of the year include earthquake-preparedness presentations by the fire district, talks about animal control and Neighborhood Watch given by the Lathrop Police Services.

Sandoval said the following local businesses have been sent invitations to take part in the Dec. 4 Christmas party: Country Kitchen restaurant, Walgreens, Pizza Guys, Starbucks, Milan Pizza, Baskin-Robbins, Yubic yogurt, Mikasa Japanese bistro, La Hacienda Taqueria, Save Mart, Advanced America, Chase bank, In Shape, Covenant Beauty & Supply, Sherwin Williams, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, USA Motors, Target, Eden Garden & Landscape Supply, Jack-in-the Box, KFC, Carl’s Jr., Texas Buffalo Wings, and Denny’s.

“The majority of the businesses was surprised to be invited and looked interested in participating. Hopefully, all the businesses will show up and make this a very merry Christmas time,” Sandoval said.
