Manteca’s IHOP restaurant isn’t a drive-thru.
That didn’t stop one motorist, however, from driving into the East Yosemite Avenue restaurant shortly before 1 a.m. Saturday.
Manteca Police Sergeant Brian Holland reported Jesse Aguilar, 42, was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol test some three times over the legal limit. Aguilar had driven from the parking lot and crashed through the east wall of the building after leveling bushes outside the windows.
Holland said it appeared the driver might have fallen asleep at the wheel of his Chevy Tahoe. The restaurant remained closed over the weekend for repairs. While Aguilar was taken to county jail on Saturday he had been released from custody by Monday afternoon.
