A 44-year-old Manteca man was jailed Tuesday night on charges of molesting a 6-year-old girl in a day care center in the 100 block of South Veach Avenue.
Eric Perez was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail in French Camp on charges of three lewd acts with a child under 14, two counts of sodomy with a person under 14 with force, and sodomy with a child under the age of 14.
Officers responded to a call from Doctors Hospital of Manteca at 8 p.m. to investigate possible child molestation, according to Lt. Tony Souza.  Due to the complexity of the case detectives were notified and took over the investigation.
The California State Licensing Office was also contacted and is in the process of re-evaluating the licensing status of the day care center.
Perez is being held in lieu of $1,995,000 in bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Superior Court today at 1:30 p.m.
