Citizens Police Academy kick off Wednesday

The seven-week Manteca Police Citizens’ Academy kicks off on Wednesday with classes starting at 6:30 p.m. and continues for three hours.

Three officers, in addition to Police Chief David Bricker, who will be teaching the series include dispatcher Kim Thomas, detective sergeant Lewis Clark and detective Paul Carmona.  Clark will be teaching driving skills and Carmona is scheduled to go over gang policing.

There is no charge for the academy other than a T-shirt with a cost of $12.

The academy is limited to 20 “cadets” and will be held at the police department and at the firing range in Ripon on an upcoming weekend.
