LATHROP - The Lathrop Community Center, 15557 Fifth St., will be closed due to construction renovations from September through February.

Renovations will include code compliance issues, American Disabilities Act compliance, energy efficiency (heating & air, lighting, kitchen equipment and passive light) as well as facility upgrades including: enhanced public service area and office area, improved kitchen and storage plus improved functionality of classroom areas.

Classes and programs that currently take place at this facility will be moved to other facilities beginning August.

Most notably, the Lathrop Kid Club before and after school program that has traditionally taken place at the Lathrop Community Center will take place at Lathrop Elementary School (Room 14) instead. Due to the closure, the Parks & Recreation Department will not be able to offer the KinderCamp until March 2013.

All Parks & Recreation class, program and facility rental registrations and payments will be accepted at the Lathrop City Hall beginning Tuesday, Sept. 4.
