Crab lovers rejoice: Weekly crab feeds thru February

The Festa do Espirito Santo Manteca officially launched the 2010 Manteca crab feed season that offers a benefit event every Saturday – except one – through the end of February.

The FESM crab feed took place Saturday. If that wasn’t enough for you or else you are hankering for crab, dancing, and good company there are a number of other options:

•BOYS & GIRLS CLUB: The Manteca/Lathrop Boys & Girls Club Crab Feed takes place Saturday, Jan. 16, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.
The meal consists of crab, baked potato, bread, salad, bread, and wine. Tickets are $40 apiece.

No-host cocktails are from 6 to 7 p.m. while dinner is at 7 p.m. followed by dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The Manteca Fighters Association is manning the bar as well as offering free rides afterwards.

Tickets are available from any Boys & Girls Club board member or contacting the club at 239-KIDS.

•NILE GARDEN SCHOOL COMMUNITY CLUB: The Nile Garden School Community Club will be holding their 40th annual Crab Dinner Dance on Saturday, Jan. 23, at the MRPS Hall in Manteca.  

The social hour is at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. with music and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $35 per person and you must be 21 to attend.  For tickets call Stacie Silveira at 209-823-4025.

•ST. ANTHONY’S SCHOOL: The St. Anthony School Parent Teacher Group is hosting the first St. Anthony School Crab Feed on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 5:30 p.m. to midnight at the St. Anthony School Gym.  Tickets are $40 which includes crab, homemade pesto, marinade pasta, salad, bread, dessert, wine with dinner and a no host bar.  There will be a live and silent auction, 50/50 raffle and music and dancing.  Contact the school office at 209-823-4513 for more information or to purchase tickets.

•EU ATHLETIC BOOSTERS: The East Union High Athletic Boosters crab feed takes place Saturday, Feb. 6, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

It takes place from 6 p.m. to midnight and includes dancing. The cost is $40. There is a no host bar.

•ANDERSON’S 209 BMX: The Anderson’s 209 BMX marinated crab feed takes place on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the FESM Hall, 230 North Main St.  It takes place from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

If you don’t like crab you can request a steak in advance.

The $40 ticket covers dinner – marinated crab, plain crab, pasta, French bread, anti-pasta, and dessert – as well as dancing. This is one of the few crab feeds with a live band. Playing will the classic rock band The Vine Dawgz from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There is also a no-host bar.

Also coming up in late February is the Manteca Morning Rotary crab feed.

•ESCALON KIWANIS: The Escalon Kiwanis Crab Feed is Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Escalon Community Center at 1055 Escalon-Bellota Road. No host bar is at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. There is also a raffle and auction planned.


Proceeds will support Escalon High scholarships, Key Club, Builders Club and youth. Tickets are $40. Contact Mike Berhorst at 402-1883.
