A 21-year-old Manteca man was arrested within minutes after allegedly robbing a clerk at the 7-Eleven on West Yosemite Avenue near El Portal Avenue shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday.

A clerk called Manteca Police saying he had been robbed of an undetermined amount of cash at gunpoint with what looked like a semi-automatic hand gun.

Officer Aaron Montoya located John Gervin II in the 1000 block of Williford Street that parallels Yosemite Avenue to the south.  Patrolman Mark Rangel set up a roadside lineup where a witness identified Gervin as the suspect.

Public information officer Jason Hensley lauded Rangel for doing an excellent job in his follow up investigation and in setting up the field line up for the witness.  He noted that the hand gun was located and said it was a replica of a semi-automatic -  an air soft gun that does not fire bullets.

Gervin was charged with armed robbery in the case, police said.
