Seventeen-year-old Zachary Hurlburt Erhardt made his first appearance in the San Joaquin County Superior Court Thursday charged with first degree murder in the shooting death of 11-year-old Hunter Davis.

Davis died on Monday after being on life support at the U.C. Davis Medical Center for just over a week.

The preliminary hearing was continued to Oct. 9 when Erhardt’s attorney will be in attendance with the teen being tried as an adult.
