A lone gunman entered the Check ‘n Go check cashing business in the 1100 block of South Main Street, next to Hertz car rental, about 5:30 p.m. Friday and left with an undetermined amount of cash.

Manteca Police officers said the masked man entered the business brandishing a semi-automatic hand gun and went behind the counter where he reportedly emptied out a cash drawer and fled.  The clerk was shaken but unharmed in the robbery.
He was seen leaving the parking lot in a silver or champagne colored SUV.  Officers said the man was fairly short in stature.

Despite the fact officers had put yellow crime scene tape around the area of the store, customers attempted to get in to cash checks and pay bills as community service officer Barb Hall was busy taking finger prints at the front door of the store.
