20 auto burglaries, 5 stolen cars & 3 home break-ins

The Grinch did his best to steal Christmas in Manteca.

During a five-day period that included Christmas Day Manteca Police received reports of 20 auto burglaries, five stolen cars and three home burglaries.  

On Monday morning there were five auto burglaries and two residential burglaries.

The first of the residential burglaries occurred in the 100 block of East Edison Street and was reported at 3 a.m. The second was in the 1100 block of Vanderbilt Circle and was called in to police shortly after 9:30 in the morning.

The vehicle burglaries were apparently discovered when residents were leaving for work on Monday.  The first call came in to police shortly before 6 a.m. from the 800 block of Tannehill Drive.  A second theft of contents in a vehicle was called in just before 7 a.m. in the 1900 block of Belmont Place.

Another vehicle burglary occurred apparently overnight in the 2100 block of Brennan Lane. It was reported at 7:45 a.m.  At 8 a.m. another report of theft from a vehicle was reported from the 1100 block of Canvasback Lane.  A minute later, another theft from a vehicle came from a caller at 8 a.m. from the 1000 block of Douglas Fir Drive.

On Sunday one vehicle theft was called in to police from the 600 block of Zurich Drive.

On Christmas Day, there were three stolen vehicles reported as well as two auto burglaries.

The first vehicle burglary was discovered by its owner at 8 a.m. in the 400 block of Victory Avenue.  The second vehicle break-in was reported at 11 a.m. in the 1700 block of Whisper Way.

The vehicles discovered missing Christmas morning had been taken from the 500 block of Button Avenue and the 1000 block of Aldwina Lane.  A third stolen was apparently taken from the 1100 block of Marguerite Avenue.

On Christmas Eve, 10 burglaries to vehicles were reported.  They were discovered by their owners between 5 and 6 a.m.   The first was in the 1000 block of Schadeck Street, the second in the 1900 block of Reading Way and the third in the 1100 block of Brook View Lane.

From 7 until 11 a.m., there were five more thefts of vehicle contents reported to police.  The first burglary was discovered in the 300 block of Frances Street followed by another that occurred a second time to a neighbor of an earlier theft in the 1900 block of Reading Way.  

At 10 a.m. Christmas Eve another auto burglary was reported in the 800 block of Snowgoose lane.  Minutes later dispatchers learned of another break-in within the 1000 block of Iron Horse Way.  And just after 11 a.m. on Dec. 24, a resident in the 1000 block of Heartland Drive reported their vehicle had been broken into.

At 3 p.m. and shortly before 4,  residents from the 900 block of El Portal Avenue and the 1000 block of Bristol Street reported similar vehicle burglaries.  A vehicle was reported to have been stolen as well on Christmas Eve from the 1400 block of Spyglass Place.

On Thursday, a vehicle was stolen from the 1300 block of Bass Pro Drive at 6:30 p.m. A vehicle theft occurred in the same area a half an hour later.  Another auto burglary was reported in the next several hours from the 300 block of Lassen Avenue followed by theft of auto parts in the 1200 block of South Main Street.
