Baljit Singh, 36, is being held in San Joaquin County Jail without bail for the alleged premeditated murder of his wife Sherene Singh, 34, in their Lathrop home December 23.
Deputies responded to the home in the early morning hours last Wednesday in the 500 block of Bramblewood Court in response to a 911 call.
Singh reportedly confronted officers as they entered the home and had to be subdued – still with a knife in hand – and suffering from self-inflicted knife wounds, deputies reported.
Sherene Singh, 34, was located in an upstairs bedroom with fatal stab wounds, according to officers. Medics subsequently pronounced her dead at the scene.
Singh was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for the knife wounds he had sustained. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail the afternoon of Christmas Day with no court date set.
