LATHROP — The Taco Bell fast food restaurant on Harlan Road was robbed at gunpoint at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday with two men making off with an undetermined amount of cash from a register.

One employee told sheriff’s deputies that he was working the front counter when he noticed two men – a white or light-skinned Hispanic and a black male in their early 20s – enter the eatery.  He said one of the suspects approached the counter and placed an order.  When the register opened the man shoved the clerk away from the counter with both hands causing him to fall backwards.

The suspect began to grab bills from the register as his companion pulled a hand gun from his waistband.  The suspects reportedly fled toward the parking lot of the Quality Inn Hotel and disappeared.

The first suspect stood six feet tall and weighed about 175 pounds, dark hair, wearing a hat, black hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.  The second was described as being a black male in his twenties standing about six-foot-two, 170 pounds, shaved head, black button-up jacket, and black jeans.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office at (209) 468-4400.
