Manteca Police patrolman Barry Blackburn caught up with a fleeing burglary suspect in a rural Manteca orchard Thursday and took him down at gunpoint at about 9 a.m.

David Jeremy Baker, 19, had fled from a Sheriff’s deputy near Southland and Cottage avenues and was last seen sprinting into an orchard with backup called out from Manteca officers and Sheriff’s deputies alike.

Baker had a “no bail” warrant for his arrest for felony burglary and for a violation of juvenile probation.  The current felony charges for burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime along with a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer brought with it a bail amount of $153,000.

Baker is scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin County Jail on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
