It took four hours before the City of Manteca had its first violent crime of 2014.

Just before 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Manteca Police Department officers responded to a call at the 300 Block of Moffat Boulevard and discovered a 23-year-old man – identified as Anthony Lloyd – lying in the street with what appeared to be stab wounds.

The victim was able to communicate to officers that he sustained his injuries during an altercation with three individuals. He was transported to an area hospital where he underwent surgery, and he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.

No arrests have been made, but an investigation by detectives is ongoing and they are continuing their efforts to determine exactly what happened and identify the three individuals that the victim said were involved.

According to Manteca Police Department Lt. Tony Souza, detectives are working on several leads and have a rough idea on who some of the suspects might be. When caught they’ll likely be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Manteca Police Department at (209) 456-8101.
