Medically focused college students are being offered scholarship applications by the Doctors Hospital volunteers to help them shoulder the cost of their schooling, available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The application packets for the 2015/2016 year academic year will be available at the hospital’s front desk.  Applicants must be residents of the Manteca Unified School District including Lathrop, French Camp, Weston Ranch and the Ripon Unified School District.

Employees of Doctors Hospital in Manteca may also apply but they must be at least in their second year of an accredited community college, four year college or be at the university level.  The applicants must be pursuing studies and course work leading to a career in the healthcare or medical professions.

They will be reviewed on their grade point average, volunteer history, community involvement, honors, leadership experience and financial need.  Applications must be returned to the front desk of the hospital no later than Tuesday, April 15.  The profits from the hospital gift shop being run by volunteers is the source of the scholarship funding.

Edie Brown is in charge of the scholarship committee.  She may be reached at 239.4717 or  you can call Addie Vahlensieck at 823.5020.
