Medically focused college students are being offered scholarships by the Doctors Hospital of Manteca Auxiliary volunteers to help them shoulder the costs of their education beyond their second year of study.
The application packets for the 2016-2017 academic year will be available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., at the hospital’s front desk beginning Monday, Feb. 15.  Applicants must be residents of the Manteca Unified School District including Lathrop, French Camp, Weston Ranch along with Ripon Unified School District students  and must be attending an accredited community college, four year college or be at the university level.
The applicants must be pursuing studies and course work leading to a career in the healthcare or medical professions.  The applications will be reviewed on their grade point averages, volunteer history, community involvement, honors, leadership experience and financial needs.
Applications must be returned to the front desk of the hospital no later than Friday, April 15, 2016.  The profits from the hospital gift shop, being run by the volunteers, is the source of the scholarship funding.
Sandra Harris 824-1342 and Julia Owens 825-2663 both co-chair the scholarship committee.  Any questions, call Sandra or Julia.
