A barbecue blowout was the order of the day at Doctors Hospital on Thursday as administrators thanked some 300 staff members for their service throughout the year that as part of National Hospital Week activities.
Five medical staffers manned a large barbecue grill cooking steak and chicken outside the hospital’s main conference room on East North Street while administrators served from a food line just inside the door. Tables were decorated with colorful gold balloons to recognize the hospital’s 50 years of service to the community.
Noon was the first of two sit down dinner functions for the day staff members. Another in the evening acknowledged those working that later shift. Those at home on days off were also invited to take part of the event that included raffle prizes for employees and an in-house poster contest.
Each department was invited to produce its own poster representing the function and focus of their specialized operation. The employees were asked to vote on the poster of their choice and awards would be presented after the conclusion of the day’s annual luncheon and dinner event.
The luncheon was coordinated by members of the hospital’s business development department including Eric McMurtrey, Kathy McKinsey and Josie Homlin.
