10 Shasta grads ace report cards

Eighty-four students at Shasta School received their promotion certificates last Tuesday.

The special ceremony at the Hornets’ Nest – the official name of the Shasta multi-purpose building – was the eighth-grade group led by honor students Vanessa Alicea, Madison Burch, Epifanio Estrada, Matthew Garcia, Rachel Hernandez, Lizeth Lopez, Chandler Nieman, Billal Safi, Ciera Talavera and Alycia Walter.

They were honored for maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

Hernandez and Safi also earned the Outstanding Math Achievement Award, as presented by their teacher Linda Davis.

Instructor Kellie Fullmer awarded Garcia and Talavera with the Outstanding Language Arts Achievement.

Chris Budnik announced Christian Balbuena and Atziry Rascon Gomez as the Outstanding Science Achievement winners.

Jon Barker praised Walter and David Gonzalez. Both earned the Outstanding Social Studies Achievement Awards.

The top Overall Academic Achievement winners, as announced by teacher Ana Garcia, went to Estrada and Nieman.

In addition, instructor Dave Dadasovich presented Burch and Miguel Urrizari with Student Athlete Awards while teacher Jaqueline Kron was on hand to give the prestigious Character Awards to Daje Carter and Garbriel Rios.

Rios was one of the student speakers as was Talavera. Bobbi Ries performed a song.

Jeremiah Galvez opened the ceremonies by leading the Pledge of Allegiance.

Principal Audrey Greene provided the introductions. She and Vice Principal Christie Newman and Program Coordinator Debbie Doyle made it official, providing the presentation in announcing that these eighth-grade students were reading for their promotion to high school.
