The Sequoia School Soccer Club is looking to raise money to help support the program.

On Friday, Feb. 12, the team led by soccer coach Ramon Jimenez will host a Chez Shari drive-thru dinner from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 305 N. Union Road in the Manteca Park Golf Course parking lot.

Cost is $10. The meal will consist of tri tip beef, Rosemary chicken, mashed potatoes, and roll served with butter.

Tickets must be purchased by Tuesday, Feb. 9.

Soccer is one of the favorite sports played at Sequoia.

“It’s played at recess and lunch by all students of all grade levels,” Principal Lori Guzman-Alvarez said.

Thanks to previous fundraisers, the Sequoia Soccer Club managed to purchase a set of goals for the schools along with awards and incentives for students participating in the Manteca Unified Student Trust, or MUST, afterschool league.

“That’s with the tight budget,” Guzman-Alvarez added.
She’s also thankful for Jimenez.

“(He) works daily after school with students on developing their soccer skills on a completely voluntary basis,” said Guzman-Alvarez. “We are so proud of him and of our growing soccer club.”
