The candidates in the running for the Manteca Unified school board will have another chance to tackle the issues on Wednesday.

Incumbents Manuel Medeiros, Evelyn Moore and Nancy Teicheira, along with challengers Chuck Carpenter, Joey Ermitanio, Don Scholl, and Bill Van Ryn are scheduled to take part in the candidates forum hosted by the California School Employee Association Chapter 50.

The 5 p.m. event will take place in the MUSD Administration Building board room, 2271 W. Louise Ave. The public is invited to attend.

The candidates forum will be similar that of the recent one hosted by the Manteca Educators Association.

Janet Dyk will serve as the CSEA mediator.

At least one newcomer will join the school board after the November elections. Trustee Vern Gebhardt opted not to seek re-election in Area 5, thus, giving voters a choice of two of the three candidates – Moore, Carpenter and Scholl – in the race.

Van Ryn is again challenging Teicheira for Area 4. The two faced off four years ago.

In Area 2, Lathrop resident Ermitanio is looking to unseat Medeiros, who chose to run again due to some unfinished business.
