Open enrollment for Manteca schools coming

All 20 elementary and five comprehensive high school campuses in the Manteca Unified School District will be accepting intradistrict transfer requests for grades 1 through 12, through the Open Enrollment process.

Open Enrollment request forms will be available at all school sites from Friday, March 1, through 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22. All request forms for all schools must be turned into the school of residence for possible placement in the fall semester of the 2013-14 school year. All forms will be date-stamped when received at the schools of residence to ensure that the Open Enrollment request form was received within the Open Enrollment window. Late request forms will not be accepted.

Students applying for Open Enrollment are enrolled in their school of residence until a final determination is made on the request form. Requests will be approved based on space availability. For all five high schools, if there are more applicants than space available, a district lottery will be conducted. Parents will be notified of the status of their requests by approximately June 1. Transportation to and from school of choice will be the responsibility of the parent-student applicant. For further information on open enrollment, contact your school of residence.

Elementary open enrollments must be renewed each year. Renewals are to be filled out at the school of choice. High school open enrollments do not require renewal. For incoming kindergarten open enrollment information, call your school of residence in early April. If you are a student athlete, be aware that the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section has eligibility requirements for transfer students. Consult the CIF bylaws at www.cifsjs.org.
