Free meal set for Christmas Eve in Manteca

A free Christmas Eve dinner is being made possible through the efforts of the First Assembly of God, the Manteca Christian School, David and Sylvia’s Family Dining restaurant and the community at large.
First Assembly Pastor Mike Dillman said David and Sylvia’s owners are loaning volunteers their restaurant on Christmas Eve. They will serve dinner for free to anybody that wants to come from 4 to 6 p.m. It’s not going to be like a meal at a rescue mission. Guests are going to come in and sit down at the table and will be served just like at a restaurant.
Dillman said the invitation is being extended to “the homeless, folks that live by themselves and don’t have the time and the desire to fix a Christmas meal, and families that are coming up short in this tough economy.”
They are also looking for volunteers who would like to “do something that really touches people that need help and come and help us with the dishes, cooking, serving” and other chores that need to be done that evening.
For further questions about the Christmas Eve dinner, call the church office at 239-1371. Gifts and other donations may be brought either to David and Sylvia’s Family Dining at the Cardoza Shopping Center on the southeast corner of North Main Street and Louise avenue, or during business hours at First Assembly of God on Button Avenue located just north of East Highway 120 on the east side of Highway 99.
