Three of the four incumbents are seeking re-election in the Manteca Unified school board race.

Vern Gebhardt, the retired Sierra High athletic director and former football coach, opted not to run after just one term.

According to San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office, his Area 5 seat along with that of fellow incumbent Evelyn Moore will be up for grabs come November.

A longtime trustee and retired educator, Moore recently re-filed with hopes of once again serving those in central Manteca.

The three-person race for the two Area 5 seats will consist of challengers Don Scholl, who is listed as a public works superintendent, and agribusiness broker Chuck Carpenter.

Voters, meanwhile, will pick one person for both Area 2 and Area 4.

Area 2 consisting of north Manteca, Lathrop and French Camp has been held by Manuel Medeiros, who is seeking to maintain his old seat.

He’ll be challenged by Lathrop resident Joey Ermitanio, who is listed as a school district treasurer in Oakland.

Incumbent Nancy Teicheira is also looking to again represent Area 4 consisting of south of the Highway 120 bypass.

She’ll again battle agricultural professional William Van Ryn, who sought the post four years ago.

The elections in Ripon Unified have been settled with newcomer Kitt Oase taking over from longtime board member Larry Stewart, who opted not to run.

The seats belonging to incumbents Ernest Tyhurst and Donna Parks went unchallenged.
