Did you know that juvenile crime increases by almost 15% once school lets out? This leads us to ask a very important question: “Do you know what your child is doing between the hours of 3 and 6 p.m.?”

It could be one of many things including hanging out with friends, doing homework, going on the internet, watching television, or it could be that they are getting into trouble. The necessity for after-school programs has grown tremendously with more and more children growing up in homes with parents working longer hours. More children are left to fend for themselves after school until parents return home from work, leaving them open to a world of danger. Children are left to face the pressure of trying drugs, alcohol, or being involved in criminal activity.

Give Every Child A Chance’s After-School Advantage Programs offer the families of South San Joaquin County a safe and structured environment for children after school. After-school programs keep children safe, improve academic achievement, and help relieve the stresses on today’s working families. Being involved with this opportunity not only helps ease the stress on parents but also helps children build strong healthy relationships with their peers and gain self confidence.
