Want to know how it feels to publish a cookbook?

Dorothy Indelicato is prepared to explain why she published a cookbook to celebrate the family winery’s 75th anniversary year.

She is looking forward to explaining the process during the Manteca Historical Society’s free monthly program night on Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m. at the Museum.

Indelicato will explain how her family’s business newsletter, family photos and employee recipes all contributed to the final product.  There will be the original galley proofs for the cookbook, “Wine, Food and the Good Life”, for visitors to “see how it is done” and to either whet the appetite for doing their own publication or decide that you have to be “out of your mind” to attempt such a project.

Following her talk, Indelicato will lead the audience across the parking lot to the Museum’s Memorial Building. Once there, she will take one of the recipes in the cookbook, Portuguese doughnuts, and prepare them for everyone to taste. If Indelicato’s 98-year-old-mother, Mary Cardoza, is feeling well enough, she will help with the project.

There will be coffee and lemonade to enjoy with the Portuguese doughnuts at the conclusion of the program.

The Manteca Historical Museum is located at 600 W Yosemite Ave.
