The Manteca Kiwanis Club will need 10,000 plastic eggs for its annual Easter Egg Hunt to be held Saturday, April 23, at the Northgate Park softball fields  next to the Tidewater Bike Path on Northgate Drive.

“We are able to put this event on due to the volunteer hours of our members and the generosity of Manteca residents and merchants,” said Kiwanis spokesman George Montross.

“Children from 1 to 12 years of age are encouraged to participate in ‘hunting’ for plastic eggs stuffed with candy and other fun goodies. We are in need of 10,000 eggs and candy to fill them,” he said.

In addition to the egg hunt, the club will again have a raffle and will give away three bicycles and several Easter baskets.

The Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 23, starting at 11 a.m. sharp. Those who are planning to bring their children to this highly popular event are encouraged to be there early.

“People start lining up around 10 a.m.,” Montross said.

The raffle will be held after the egg hunt.

Stuffing the thousands of plastic eggs will take place Friday, April 22, from 9 a.m. until noon at Prestige Senior Living, 1130 Empire Avenue off East Louise Avenue. Helping the Kiwanis members stuff the eggs will be Prestige residents, CAPS, and students who belong to Kiwins, the youth group sponsored by the club.

Montross said they welcome any donations to help the club stage this event which has attracted thousands of excited children through the years.

“Any monetary donations, bicycles, candy and/or Easter basket donations would be greatly appreciated for this worthwhile event,” he said.

Manteca Kiwanis Club is a tax-exempt non-profit organization – federal tax identification 94-6102280 – which means donations made to the group are tax-deductible. Mailed donations to Kiwanis should be sent to P.O. Box 85, Manteca CA 94336.

Montross also said those who would like to see some of the club’s other activities may visit their web side at www.mantecakiwanisclub.org. For more information about this year’s Easter Egg Hunt or how to volunteer, call Montross at (209) 456-7389.
