Lathrop plans Easter breakfast with bunny

If you’re a Lathrop resident and you were holding out hope for the annual community Easter egg hunt once again taking place, you’re out of luck.
The City of Lathrop is going a different direction.
But according to Events and Facilities Manager Chris Lawrence, the new event – which is being dubbed “Breakfast and Basket making with the Bunny” – will provide the benefit of both a catered breakfast and an arts-and-crafts opportunity and also provide photos with the Easter Bunny that have become a staple for most families around the holiday.
“It’s just a new perspective on the things that we’ve always done,” said Lawrence – who now oversees all of the special events for the City of Lathrop. “It’s a change to upgrade our events and try and attract new people to come out and see the things that we’re doing in the community and it will be a really good family fun event.”
Tickets for the breakfast are $9 each, and can be purchased in advance by visiting the Lathrop Community Center located at 15557 5th Street during regular business hours or by calling 209.941.7370.
The event, which takes place on Saturday, March 19, will feature two different sitting times to accommodate more people who wish to attend. Seating for the event is limited to 150 participants, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Those wishing to attend are urged to purchase tickets in advance, and walkup tickets will be available for purchase if there are any left over.
Seating times are currently scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m., and while the event will serve as a replacement for the community Easter egg hunt, Lawrence says that it will also represent a new tradition being formed in the community as well.
All who attend will be provided a catered breakfast a chance to make an Easter basket and will be given a picture that will be taken with the on-site Easter bunny.
