Lathrop reviews home design for River Islands

LATHROP – The Lathrop Planning Commission meets Wednesday, Sept. 4, to discuss and possibly approve resolutions for neighborhood design plans and the architectural design guidelines for The Community at South River Bend.

The project is part of the River Islands at Lathrop development.

River Islands – with backing by the British-born real estate investment firm The Cambay Group –  completed the bulk of the privately-funded bridge across the San Joaquin River from Mossdale Crossing. Construction on the first 200 homes has already been approved by the city council.

Cambay decided to sit on the property for a decade after gaining initial approval waiting until the time was right to finally start building. During the wait they have secured water, enhanced levees, created interior lakes, and built a school among other improvements.

The development ultimately will have 11,000 homes.
