The Manteca Police Department has arrested two people for the murder of Alex Selzer nearly three months after he was discovered with life-threatening injuries in the parking lot of the Juniper Apartments in southeast Manteca.

Selzer later succumbed to his injuries.

John Guillory (also known as JT Anaya), 23, of Manteca, and German Valdevinos, 19, of French Camp, were taken into custody Thursday by Manteca Police investigators that have been conducting a months-long investigation into the incident that led to the discovery of Selzer’s nearly lifeless body in the parking lot of the Juniper Apartments on East Atherton Drive east of Van Ryn Avenue. Both men were charged with murder and robbery and will be transported to the San Joaquin County Jail where they will be held without bail.

Police initially responded to reports of a drive-by shooting and arrived to discover Selzer laying on the asphalt. Upon further investigation officers learned that he had not been shot, and because the investigation is ongoing, police aren’t releasing any additional details as to what transpired that led to Selzer’s injuries.

Additional information will be released to the public as it becomes available, according to police.

The incident was Manteca’s first homicide of 2019, and since then four more have been recorded – three of which took place within the same month-long span. The fifth, a shooting on the Highway 120 Bypass, is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol because happened on a freeway.
