The Ripon City Council held a special meeting Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Elected leaders have considered approving the Multi-Modal project as the City of Ripon Regional Project for the One Voice Advocacy Trip 2023.

In the last few years, one Council member and the City Administrator to advocate not only for the Ripon projects but also important regional projects and regional transportation policies.

Council will consider once again to designate two local representatives for the in-person trip scheduled May 8 through 10 in Washington D.C.

The Ripon Multi-Modal Project is listed as a regional project.

The City of Ripon and San Joaquin Regional Rail Commission is proposing to construct an Altamont Commuter Express platform near downtown. Included will be off-street parking, a bus-loading and staging area, off-site street improvements, and a rail platform for the ACE Train.

The property was purchased in 2017 by the City, which also received $3.9 million of Federal Transit Administration funding to go towards the design and construction of the project.

“At this time, $1.5 million of the FTA funds have been allocated towards the design of the project. The estimate capital cost of the improvements, not including the SJRRC-funded platform, is $6 million, leaving a funding need of $3.6 million,” City Administrator Kevin Werner said in his report.
