AROUND MANTECA

The IKEA Plan & Order Point studio opens today at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley.

It is the second Central Valley studio design location. The other is in Fresno.

There are three such locations in the Bay Area in addition to full-scale IKEA stores in Emeryville, East Palo Alto, and West Sacramento.

There is no stock at an IKEA Plan & Order Point location. Rather, it is a showroom with all furniture purchased being delivered to your home. You can also order IKEA items at the Manteca location where you can also pick it up to avoid shipping costs.

Visitors browse the showroom and get inspiration and ideas for homes or small businesses.

They also offer one-on-one consultation services for kitchen design, bedroom and bathroom solutions, small space living solutions and more.

Manteca Police cite adult for

for buying alcohol for under-age

Manteca Police officers and Manteca Police Cadets on Tuesday conducted a shoulder tap operation outside random licensed establishments in the city. The operations were conducted at off sale licensed establishments are businesses that sell alcohol that cannot be consumed on premises such as stores and liquor stores.

Shoulder tap operations are conducted by having a minor decoy stand outside a licensed establishment and ask patrons to purchase alcohol for them.

The crime is committed when the patron furnishes alcohol to the minor by any means: taking money from the decoy and purchasing the alcohol or just giving the decoys alcohol that the customer purchased on their own.

During this operation, one of the people contacted furnished alcohol to the minor decoys.

Police considered the shoulder tap effort a success because it shows the department’s operations and community education announcements are working to reduce alcohol being furnished to under aged people.

The Manteca Police Department conducts the operations in cooperation with a grant agreement with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverages.
The goal is to stop underage people from having access to or being furnished with alcoholic beverages.

The Manteca Police Department asks you to report any activities of underage people consuming, possessing, or being furnished alcoholic beverages by calling Manteca Police Department at 209.456.8101.
