Lathrop is celebrating its 36th birthday today with plenty of activities and an aerial fireworks show as an encore.
As a reminder, the City of Lathrop and the Lathrop Police Department issued a notice of special event road closure in the area of Lathrop High, Lathrop Generations Center, and Leland 7 Jane Stanford Park, beginning at 12 noon.
Closed through most of the day (Tuesday, July 1) will be eastbound Spartan Way, Locomotive Street between Jewell and Bacarra streets, and Crespi Street.
The temporary road closures will be in effect through 11 p.m.
The July 1 Lathrop Birthday Celebration will feature the walking parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Generations Center, 450 Spartan Wy.
Featured will be decorated wagons and strollers, dressed up in red, white & blue, looping along the City of Lathrop facility to the Kids Stage.
Premier 80s tribute band, The Breakfast Klub, will provide the live entertainment.
Food trucks, vendors, carnival games, and, of course, the fireworks show are all part of the celebration.
Lathrop was Incorporated on July 1, 1989.
