If the Lathrop City Council signs off on it on Monday, the City of Lathrop will have both of its collective bargaining units under contract through the middle of 2026.
As part of a proposed $785,735 package, employees represented by both the Lathrop Mid-Managers and Confidential Employees association and the Service Employees International Union Local 1021 will receive annual cost of living increases of four percent in July of 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
The negotiations also included the addition of one annual floating holiday and an increase in tuition reimbursement from $1,100 to $3,000.
The Lathrop City Council meets on the second Monday of each month at Lathrop City Hall – located at 390 Towne Centre Drive – at 7 p.m.
According to the staff report prepared for the council, unrepresented employees will receive the same benefits if they are approved by council.
The report also broke down the total first-year cost of the agreement at just under $786,000 – including $100,000 for the floating holiday, just over $676,000 for the cost of living adjustment, and $9,500 for tuition reimbursement.
The memorandum of understanding for both bargaining units was negotiated between representatives from the union and the city’s bargaining team – which consists of the city manager, human resources director, human resources manager, public works director, and finance director.
Negotiations with SEIU began in early March and concluded earlier this week while the LMCEA began negotiations with the city in February and concluded in mid-March – resulting in approximately one week of negotiation overlap between the two bargaining units.
