The inaugural 209 Meat Up is taking place Saturday, Aug. 30, from noon to 6 p.m. at Brethren Brewing Co. in the 200 block of North Main Street.
Brethren Brewing Co. is teaming up with Smokin’ Irish BBQ to bring pitmasters from throughout Northern California to celebrate the craft, culture, and smoky glory of barbecue.
So far, 22 food trucks will be taking over the parking lot of the brewery and an adjacent parking lot including Kinder’s Meats that has over a million followers on social media.
Most are barbecue food trucks although there will be some other options such as pizza.
It is a free event to attend.
People are invited to hang out, chat with the pitmasters, and maybe even jump behind the grill to learn a few well-guarded secrets.
Samples start rolling out at 2 p.m.
Tips are welcome to show your appreciation.
Brethren Brewing will also have a Smokin’ Irish Red Alle on tap for the day. It is described by Daniel Macahdo as “bold, smooth and made to pair perfectly with smoked meats.”
As for this Saturday, the Brethren Brewing Co. has live music starting at 6 p.m. courtesy of the rock band Side Quest.
The craft brewery has 15 selections on tap.
The favorite selling IPA is currently Palm Avenue named after the road lined with palms between Austin Road and the railroad tracks along Highway 99.
Also high on the popularity list is a blonde ale dubbed Lawn Mower.
The brewery works hard to offer a family atmosphere including non-alcoholic seltzer waters.
The weekly bingo games at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays are also gaining in popularity.
The brewery is planning its annual Oktoberfest for Saturday, Oct. 25. It will be a free entry this year with live music, arts and crafts, food, and the ability to buy a refillable beer stein.
