food expo
The Family Wellness and Safety Expo will be held Friday, July 19, at the Sierra High gym from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Included will be plenty of interactive and informative booths at this free event for all Manteca Unified students and their families.

The Manteca Unified Nutrition Education Department will host another Family Wellness and Safety Expo.

This second-ever free event for all MUSD students and families will be held on Friday, July 19, at the Sierra High gym on 1700 Thomas St., from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Golden West Elementary School hosted last year’s inaugural event consisting of free lunch samples along with a variety of 13 booths.

Family Wellness and Safety Expo is a casual drop-in event.

Those attending the interactive and informative Expo had a choice to make their way to the various stations upon signing in.

Included were the Seamless Summer Meals, Meal Applications, Elementary Lunch & Breakfast, Pre-Sales / Charge Policy, Home Visitation Initiative, Large School Wellness & Smart Snacks, Allergens, Junior Farmer’s Market, Meal Benefits, Give Every Child A Chance / Snack & Supper Meals, and First Five of San Joaquin.

This year’s event promises to be even bigger, according Stephanie Huff, who is the Nutrition Services Supervisor.

She’s been helping out with the summer lunch program servicing 30 sites in Manteca, Lathrop, French Camp and Stockton’s Weston Ranch community – no registration or identification is needed for the free summer lunches available to those ages 2 through 18.

The Family Wellness and Safety Expo will provide parents with a chance to fill out meal applications or set-up a pre-payment plan.

Some sites will receive the free meal plan. Those at the sites will still be required to fill out the proper forms made available at the Expo.
