The Ripon Planning Commission will meet Monday to discuss the request to construct six tennis courts at Ripon Christian High.

The project calls for the tennis courts to be located along the parking lot located at 552, 564, and 570 N. Wilma Ave., and will include the installation of two new commercial driveways, 69 parking stalls, associated fencing (around the tennis courts), a shaded courtyard area with tables, and an accessible pedestrian path that will connect to the existing parking lot.

The Planning Commission session will take place at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.

Planning Director Ken Zuidervaart said in his staff report that two existing residential homes on the project site will be demolished.

He also reported that four of the courts will be located to the north of home at 522 N. Wilma Ave., which is about 32 feet from side property line. The two other courts would be located directly behind the residence at 522 N. Wilma Ave. by about five feet from the rear property line.

“All the courts will be fenced with 12-foot black vinyl coated chain link fencing. The applicant has indicated that the courts will contain court lighting – may opt to install the court lighting at a later phase,” said Zuidervaart.

He added that one of the conditions of the approval would be to ensure that the tennis court light to be limited to no later than 10 p.m. and no hours in the early morning.
