The City of Ripon announced Tuesday that free take-home COVID-19 test kits were available.
Shortly before 3 p.m., all 1,400 were distributed.
Most residents received the message via the City’s Nixle alerts. They made their way to City Hall and picked up their kits – limited to two tests per household – in the lobby on a first come, first serve basis.
All told, 700 households received the free test kits, according to City Hall.
Meanwhile, San Joaquin County Public Health Officer Dr. Maggie Park announced at last week’s Board of Supervisors meeting dthat COVID-19 case rates and hospitalizations continue to show county-wide increases, with the current case-rate surges surpassing the peaks of both Winter 2020 and Summer 2021.
She added that nearly 80 percent of the new cases in the state are due to the Omicron variant.
