Ripon Tree Lighting honors cancer victims, survivors

The 11th annual Ripon Tree Lighting on Monday evening about a community, families, and the honor of those who have passed of cancer along with others who carry on the fight as survivor.

Hospice of San Joaquin made it clear that it’s not too late to sponsor a loved one via the Memory Board, which will be continued to be updated to the end of the year.

The holiday event hosted by the Ripon Chamber of Commerce once again was held at the Veterans Memorial Wall near downtown.

The community came out strong out with temperatures in the mid-50s. They hobnobbed in front of the museum, sipping free hot chocolate and cookies compliment of the Ripon Coffee House.

The Ripon High school band performed the opening music while the RHS choir closed the festivities by singing of some familiar Christmas Carols.

Welcoming those in attendance was Hospice of San Joaquin board member Nicole Bettencourt.

Mayor Dean Uecker wished all a Merry Christmas and Ripon Chamber of Commerce CEO Kelly Donohue acknowledged a few notable folks.

Miss Almond Blossom / Miss Ripon 2022 Briley Perez had the honors of lighting up the towering evergreen tree – each of the LED lights represented a cancer victim or survivor.

Hospice of San Joaquin will be back in the area on Thursday evening. The large tree at East North Street and Cottage Avenue in front of Doctors Hospital of Manteca.
