Velma Sue Sims, affectionately known as “Sue,” was born on July 31, 1939, in Oklahoma and passed away on August 12, 2026. A resident of Manteca for 46 years.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Ray Sims. She is survived by her son, Darin Sims and his wife, Carmen, and her three cherished grandchildren, including Nic, Mia and Max.
The youngest of nine children, Sue grew up surrounded by family, something that remained important to her throughout her life. Sue dedicated 35 years to working in the medical industry before retiring. She spent the latter part of her career as a Central Supply Technician at Doctors Hospital of Manteca.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Freedom Christian Center for 20 years. Sue was the perfect blend of sassy, sweet, friendly, and spunky. She genuinely loved people and had a special way of making others feel noticed, welcomed, and loved. She could make a friend just about anywhere, including McDonald’s, one of her favorite places. She knew the employees, enjoyed visiting with everyone, and even met one of her very best friends there. She loved spending time with family, crocheting, and, perhaps most of all, shopping. Sue also had a love for her sports cars, and in most recent years she had a lot of fun driving her beloved Thunderbird, which fit her fun and spirited personality perfectly. She enjoyed trips to the California coast, especially Cayucos, and always appreciated good food along the way. A true foodie with a sweet tooth, Sue enjoyed her treats with just about any meal or snack. More than anything, Sue will be remembered for the way she made people feel. Behind her sass and spunk was an incredibly sweet heart and a genuine love for others.
