South Main Chevron robbed at gunpoint

Manteca Police are looking for two white males that robbed the Chevron gas station at South Main Street and Mission Ridge Drive at gunpoint Saturday at 1:30 a.m.

The suspects took cash and other items and then fled in a dark green two door 1997 Acura Integra (California plate 5KWA394) that Manteca Police subsequently found had been reported stolen.

One suspect was describe as an adult male with a thin build, wearing a black hoodie, black ski-mask, black Adidas pants, and white shoes and armed with a handgun. The second suspect was an adult male of average build wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans, and white shoes.

Benjamin Marquez, 37, of Manteca was arrested after Manteca Police reported to a disturbance call Friday at 10:40 p.m. in the 800 block of West Yosemite Avenue.

Marquez was found to be wanted on a $100,500arrest warrant for violating the terms of his Post Release Community Supervision. He was placed under arrest for his warrant without incident.

A subsequent search led to the discovery of two firearms, ammunition, and other paraphernalia he was prohibited from possessing. Suspected narcotics were also located during the search. Based on the discovery of these additional items, Marquez was also charged with two counts of a felon in possession of a firearm, a felon in possession of ammunition, armed while in possession of controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, removal of a serial number on firearm, and possession of stolen property.

 

Police recover stolen

Manteca Police on Saturday responded to the area of St. Francis Park in central west Manteca for a report of a stolen vehicle taken from in front of the victim’s home.

Officers began searching for the vehicle and located it being driven just a few blocks away. The occupants were detained and the driver was later booked into San Joaquin County Jail for charges of vehicle theft and drug possession.
