Tony Marshall, president of LDS Modesto Stake, killed in accident

Tony Marshall, 57, was killed in an intersection crash Tuesday morning at Mello Road and North Murphy Road northeast of the Ripon community.

Marshall was the former president of the Modesto North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints and was the principal in MCR Engineering on Dupont Circle in Manteca’s Spreckels Park.  

According to reports Marshall was driving west on Mello Road and failed to yield at a stop sign at North Murphy Road and was struck in the driver’s side of his Acura sedan by a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. 

Marshall ended his presidency in the stake last May serving 4,000 church members.  He was charged with an area encompassing Modesto, Escalon, Oakdale, Salida, Riverbank, Sonora and Groveland.
